This web page will help you plan your backpacking trip on Isle Royale National Park (backpacking only - paddle trips are not supported). You should consult the Isle Royale web page and Greenstone newspaper to get information about required fees, passes, backcountry permits, and park regulations. This tool was derived from the Isle Royale Trip Planner Spreadsheet posted at isleroyaleforums.com by Ingo. Mileage data was adapted from that spreadsheet but should be considered approximate. Difficulty ratings were based on the guide book "Isle Royale National Park Foot Trails & Water routes" by Jim DuFresne as well as suggestions by users. Note that trail ratings are subjective. This document was last updated in 2023. Changes made since then may not be reflected in the data. Be sure to confirm all plans with the current information from IRNP.

Instructions: Download the web page file to your computer and open with a javascript-enabled web browser (it has not been posted for on-line use). Click on destinations from the menu to build a trip. Destinations marked with a (c) have a campground. Use the Undo button to remove the last selection. You can download a trail map from the park web site to help you navigate this tool.
